Jason Kelce continues to look noticeably slimmer since retiring from the NFL, but the former Philadelphia Eagles center still managed to have a sense of humor about his athletic frame.
Kelce, 38, was in the NFL Network broadcast booth for the game between the Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, October 11, when he effused praise on the Jaguars’ emergency long snapper, DaVon Hamilton.
“I love it from the big fella,” Kelce said. “When I got fat, when I put on weight — I used to long snap in high school — when I got to 300 pounds-ish, it became really hard to look in between your legs. … That’s an awesome job to come in there in an emergency and help your team out. Way to go, DaVon Hamilton. I love it.”
Hamilton, 29, was forced into long snapping duties after starter Ross Matiscik suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter.
Kelce’s broadcast partner, former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, pushed back on his assessment of his body.
“You’ve never been fat,” Warner, 55, said. “You’re just husky.”
Kelce then referenced the Body Mass Index (BMI), which assigns a value to an individual’s body mass based on height and weight.
“If you look at the BMI, I think I’m technically obese. Morbidly,” Kelce said.
Kelce has been open about his weight loss journey since retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons in March 2024, even going as far to say that not everybody has been thrilled about it.
“Nobody liked me until I became fat. And as I get skinnier, people hate me more and more,” Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast in May.
A year prior, Kelce exclusively told Us that he weighed 270 pounds, a roughly 25-pound weight loss since calling it quits.
“I don’t really want to get below 250,” he said in May 2025. “So, I think somewhere between 250 and 265. We’ll see where it goes.”
In June 2024, just three months after his NFL retirement, Kelce told GQ he was “already down 20 pounds.”
“It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 pounds coming off, being honest with you,” Kelce said. “But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better. So another 20 pounds hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children.”
Jason and his wife, Kylie, share four daughters: Wyatt, 7, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 18 months.
