The star player the Rams are giving up for Myles Garrett is taking the high road to Cleveland.
Jared Verse opened up his Instagram Stories on Monday just minutes after it was reported he’d be sent to the Browns in a swap for Garrett and he released a statement that featured nothing negative about the situation.
Verse shared a post about the blockbuster with the caption, “Thank you for everything LA.”
He added two heart emojis in Rams colors.
Verse was picked by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and it didn’t take long for the Florida State alum to make an impact.
The 25-year-old pass rusher won Rookie of the Year honors in his first season, and in Year 2, he made the Pro Bowl after recording 7.5 sacks in 17 games.
Verse not only became a quick fan favorite, but Rams captain Quentin Lake said in a statement on X on Monday that he was a locker room leader too.
“Jared, my locker mate, is one of the most amazing human beings and teammates I have ever been around,” the defensive back said. “Sucks that some things are out of players control but love and support is what he needs in this moment.
“Love my guy to death and can’t wait to see him tear up the league.”
In addition to Verse, the Rams are reportedly sending three draft picks, including a 2027 first-rounder, to bring Garrett to Los Angeles.
A steep price no doubt — but one the Rams were clearly willing to pay for a player who’s won Defensive Player of the Year honors two out of the last three seasons.
