Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie acknowledged that Sterling Point will be worth the wait after assumptions that season 2 won’t return for a while.
“It went from zero to to 100 really quick and I’m so so grateful and so proud of these people,” Whiteduck-Lavoie, 23, exclusively told Us about the Prime Video show’s success.
The actor, who plays Ellis, revealed he was “so happy to go back next year” to film the second season. When asked by Us whether a 2027 production date likely meant a 2028 premiere, Whiteduck-Lavoie teased, “I just want to time travel to next summer. … I know it’s a long wait.”
He continued: “But part of the job is being patient and trusting the process. I just wish I could time travel and jump to next summer right now.”
Sterling Point was originally picked up by Prime Video in January 2025. Filming began that summer and concluded in October 2025. The hit series, which follows teenagers in Muskoka, Canada, didn’t air until August 2026.
After the series was renewed for a second season, social media users speculated that there would be a delay in order to film during the summer months in Canada. Whiteduck-Lavoie, for his part, was thrilled to see what creator Megan Park would conceptualize for season 2.
“I really hope we get to see more of Ellis. I feel like we haven’t really because we know him in the show but he’s still kind of mysterious in a way. He is just a man of few words — and I really hope we get to dive in deeper and explore more depth in him,” Whiteduck-Lavoie noted. “Obviously as an actor, to be challenged is the fun part of the job. I feel like we could have explored more of Ellis within the love triangle.”
He continued: “I’m really hoping that we get to see into Ellis’ mind and who he is. Because I feel like we haven’t really dug that deep into his personality.”
Whiteduck-Lavoie credited Sterling Point with allowing him to do more character work than he has gotten a chance in the past.
“It was a lot of talking and sitting down with Megan. In Quebec, everything is just so much more fast-paced because we have tighter budgets. We have jam-packed days where we’re shooting like 10 to 15 scenes a day so you don’t really get the time to like break down scenes,” he noted. “I had the chance to do that with Megan and it was very helpful.”
The best part was getting to use his own childhood as inspiration, adding, “We’re similar with our environment and I also grew up on lakes and I grew up fishing. We are like the last generation where part of our childhood didn’t have phones. It was all about really connecting with nature so I took a lot from my childhood to bring to Ellis.”
Whiteduck-Lavoie pointed out the differences as well.
“Obviously there’s a bunch of stuff that was very different. I also grew up on the more shy side and I didn’t have a big circle,” he continued. “I didn’t have a ton of friends and I was constantly moving so I was constantly having to adapt to new environments and making new friends. So that definitely played a big part in building this character.”
Looking ahead, Whiteduck-Lavoie can’t wait to dig even deeper — on Sterling Point and future projects.
“I’m 23 so I’m still learning every day about who I am, who I want to be and what I love to do. For this job, the highlight was getting my boating license and getting to shoot on water and having to drive boats. In the future, I just really hope to dip my toes in everything and try a little bit of everything,” he told Us. “That could be cool to do stunts. I also really hope I get some good and interesting stories come my way. I really hope I get to challenge myself as an actor and grow as an actor and prove some people wrong. It’s a blessing to call this a job and be able to do this. I just really hope I get to explore everything.”
