Influencer Dani Austin Shares Why She Wanted to Have an Unmedicated Birth With Baby No. 4

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 17, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Influencer Dani Austin is breaking down why she wanted an unmedicated birth while welcoming her and husband Jordan Ramirez’s fourth baby.

“Had four babies and out of the four, I’ve had two unmedicated, let me tell you why,” Austin shared in a Monday, March 16, video via Instagram, while holding her newborn baby. “First two, I had the worst postpartum depression. … Sleeping 12 hours a night, worst migraines, would just lay in bed and think about death. It was really dark and horrible.”

Austin shared that she was “desperate” with her third pregnancy, leading her to pursue an unmedicated birth.

“I had the best postpartum experience after my first unmedicated birth,” she continued, noting that she didn’t do any “prep” for either. “I just decided, if I could suffer for 3-4 hours so that I don’t have to suffer for 3-4 months, I’m going to do it. I think whenever I do it, I feel empowered and then I feel like I can take postpartum life by the balls. So that is why I did it the second time.”

Austin noted that she “went into panic mode” during the delivery, saying that she began “crying” because she was going into triage despite thinking she was “about to have this baby.” When she was checked, she was told she was “about to have this baby in 20 minutes.”

“My fourth unmedicated birth was worse than my third because it was shorter, but the time that I was in excruciating pain was longer, if that makes sense. And I didn’t see the end in sight so I panicked,” she explained, before saying that she wanted to encourage other moms to pursue an unmedicated birth despite her experience.

Austin began sharing her unmedicated birth story to Instagram on February 22, revealing days later that she and Ramirez had welcomed their fourth child. She shared that the pair’s son’s name is Smith.

“OK soooo I did not expect my unmedicated birth videos to reach that many people lol 😂 and l’ve seen a lot of questions (and opinions) about how I chose to give birth. So I wanted to share a little more about why,” she wrote in the caption.

While noting that “every birth is different and every mom gets to choose what’s best for her,” Austin noted that she’s “struggled with pretty intense postpartum depression” previously.

“Going into my 3rd birth, I was honestly desperate to try something different that might help my postpartum experience. I chose to go unmedicated… and my recovery and mental health were SO much better. Like, night and day better🙌,” she wrote. “So that’s why I decided to do it again this time around. Is it easy in the moment? Absolutely not. But for me, the tradeoff has been worth it because my postpartum experience has been SO much smoother.Just sharing my personal experience! ♥️.”
