Gold-digging gals are flocking to Silicon Valley to land rich husbands in AI

News RoomBy News RoomOctober 13, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Silicon Valley’s latest gold rush is for husbands — specifically husbands who work in AI.

Chinese and Chinese American women are flocking to Silicon Valley from across the country and around the globe with the aim of landing a husband who works in AI.

“The first tier is Anthropic and OpenAI,” said Qinghua Zhao, founder of 2RedBeans, which bills itself as the largest Chinese dating site in North America. “If you’re at one of those big companies, especially the AI ones, it’s obvious they’ll be huge the moment they go public.”

Zhao, who founded 2RedBeans — whose name symbolize love and longing in Chinese culture — 15 years ago, said clients’ wish lists have become more specific. Her Chinese clients used to just say they wanted to find someone on America’s East of West Coast. But, in recent years, they’ve gotten increasingly particular.

“More are specifying Silicon Valley,” she said. “And within Silicon Valley, they used to look for engineers in general. Now they’re more explicit: AI engineers are their first choice.”

Amy Yang, a former tax analyst at Oracle who now runs “Matchmaker Amy,” a Bay Area-based matchmaking business, has noticed a similar trend.

“It’s very common,” she told the Post. “The women who move here from out of town all want an engineer … [and] AI, of course, is better.”

One Los Angeles client was considering a six-month stay in San Francisco specifically because OpenAI and other AI companies are there, Yang said.

Sue Zhong, 34, was born in China and currently lives in LA. She has consulted several matchmakers, including Yang, whose package she said costs $1,500 for three introductions, to help find a husband in AI.

“I think there are people [in Silicon Valley] who want to change the world,” she said. “I find that interesting.”

A anonymous divorced Chinese businesswoman in her 40s told The Post that snaring a man in AI is a smart investment.

“For me, marriage now is a restructuring of assets,” said the woman, who declined to share her name for privacy reasons.

While she and her son from her first marriage are currently in China, she plans to settle in Silicon Valley.

“For someone like me, I definitely have to find someone whose future I can see,” she said. “I don’t mind helping him grow, but there’s risk in that process.”

She’s especially interested in men at AI companies preparing to go public.

Anthropic is reportedly targeting a mid-November IPO, with a potential valuation above $2 trillion. OpenAI remains private but has already delivered life-changing windfalls. More than 600 current and former employees sold $6.6 billion worth of shares in October 2025, with roughly 75 cashing out $30 million each. That’s the sort of wealth she’s aiming for.

“A man on a salary doesn’t have much left after tax. I’ve been through the whole system,” she said. “Unless, he’s a senior CEO or someone in that higher-income group.”

Landing a man with a promising stock package, however, takes more than a plane ticket.

“Especially in tech, many people go straight from school into a company. Their colleagues and friends tend to have similar backgrounds,” said Yang. “They’re busy with work, have limited time to socialize, and aren’t necessarily used to approaching strangers.”

To find AI guys for her clients, Zhao starts with 2RedBeans’ database, then asks friends at big tech companies for referrals.

Yang also recruits beyond her existing clients, tapping friends, former clients, industry contacts and fellow matchmakers to find suitable men.

Zhao notes that many of these men aren’t known for their dating abilities.

“They have had more training in technical things and logic, and less in emotions,” she said. “The thing about the crowd gathered in Silicon Valley is their IQ is very high and their EQ, not necessarily.

“Their thinking is simple. They want someone who understands them and is warm.”

Yang believes that successful men in AI demand a partner who has a career of her own.

“Even if he’s an AI scientist, he wants her to have at least a bachelor’s degree and a stable job in the Bay Area,” she said.

And, Zhao noted, with success comes higher expectations.

“If his own net worth has gone up,” she said, “then of course he wants someone a bit prettier.”
