The Dodgers dropped Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
The Brewers needed just two runs to beat the Dodgers Sunday. While two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal outlasted NL Cy Young candidate Jacob Misiorowski on the mound, the Dodgers offense managed just a single run.
But Freddie Freeman isn’t worried.
“Any loss in the playoffs is not great, but it’s a long series. It’s just the first game,” he said.
The Dodgers appear to have the edge in starting pitching, but Skubal’s five innings wasn’t enough to fend off the Brewers. Milwaukee won Game 1 and it could be argued the Dodgers didn’t exactly help themselves in the series opener.
The Dodgers were 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base. Had LA capitalized on any one of those moments, the Dodgers likely would have won the game.
The back-to-back World Series champions are already putting the past behind them and have their sights set on Game 2.
“We got to focus on the task at hand, and that’s winning the game tomorrow,” Betts said.
The Dodgers deploy World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto as their Game 2 starter, giving them their best chance to take a game at American Family Field.
