Fourth soldier believed to be killed in Iran attack ID’d as NYC resident – as US launches latest rounds of strikes

A fourth American soldier believed to have been killed in recent Iranian attacks on US military bases has been identified, the Pentagon announced Tuesday, as American forces bombed Iran for an 11th straight night.

“Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, is believed to have been killed in action on July 17, 2026, during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan,” read a statement released by the Department of War.

“The incident is under investigation,” the statement continued. “US Central Command previously announced this Soldier as missing.

“The Soldier status was updated to a Duty Status–Whereabouts Unknown and is believed to be deceased.”

Rampersad was assigned to the Germany-based 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command.

Army Sgt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Hawaii, and Pfc. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Texas, were previously identified by the Pentagon as having been killed in the attack on the US base in Jordan.

Another US service member, Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, of North Carolina, was killed disarming a downed Iranian drone in Iraq on Sunday.

The total number of US service members killed in the Iran war now stands at 18.

The Pentagon announced the presumed death of Rampersad as CENTCOM revealed US forces were once again striking Iran.

“CENTCOM forces began striking military targets in Iran at 7 p.m. ET today for the 11th consecutive night,” the combatant command wrote on X.

“The strikes are designed to continue degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM added.
