Five things I think will happen at the 45th Ryder Cup this week at Bethpage Black.
1. The Friday pairings
For the Friday morning foursomes (alternate shot), look for the Euros to trot out Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Åberg, Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka and Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood. Those four pairings produced a 4-0 result for Europe in Rome.
Europe’s afternoon four-ball (best ball) teams will also likely mirror its lineup from two years ago: Hovland and Hatton, Robert MacIntyre and Justin Rose, McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick.
The only difference may be Rahm playing with Rasmus Højgaard, the brother of Nicolai, who was paired with Rahm in 2023.
