A Trump-aligned Super PAC is spending nearly $8 million to help Republican challenger Mike LiPetri in his bid to topple Long Island Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi, sources told The Post.
The No Going Back PAC has bought $5.7 million in TV ads over a three-week period, according to a review of TV ad buying from both Democratic and Republican sources.
“Tom Suozzi voted against banning congressional insider trading because he’s made over $10 million dollars trading stocks in Washington,” the 30-second anti-Suozzi TV advertisement claims.
“Tom Suozzi serves himself. Mike LiPetri will serve New York by banning politicians from insider trading and holding Congress accountable,” the ad says.
No Going Back is an offshoot of the Trump Super PAC Make America Great Again or MAGA Inc.
The group is spending another $2 million in direct mail targeting households in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, which spans Nassau County’s North Shore and parts of Queens and Suffolk counties, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission.
In total, Republicans are spending nearly $8.5 million on TV ads targeting Suozzi when including ads paid for by the Congressional Leadership Fund/House GOP political action committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the LiPetri campaign, the Suozzi camp said.
Suozzi campaign senior advisor Kim Devlin slammed the pointed stocks ad against the congressman.
“Tom Suozzi has not purchased a single stock since he returned to Congress in January of 2025,” Devlin said.
“Mike LiPetri is being bankrolled by President Trump, who has traded more securities than every member of Congress combined since he returned to office,” added the Suozzi rep. “This is not only desperate but the height of hypocrisy.”
It’s a rematch between LiPetri, a former state assemblyman, and Suozzi, a former Nassau County executive serving a second stint in the House of Representatives.
Suozzi gave up his House seat to run for governor in 2022, losing in the Democratic primary to Gov. Kathy Hochul. He then won a special election in February 2024 to reclaim his old seat after scandal-scarred Republican Rep. George Santos was expelled.
Suozzi defeated LiPetri by only 3-percentage points in that election — a result that was much closer than pundits and pollsters predicted.
The Republican Party did not invest heavily in the contest in 2024 but Trump at the top of the ticket carried the district during the presidential race, likely helping LiPetri’s surprisingly strong showing.
The Suozzi campaign is running its own TV ads portraying the incumbent as a centrist who rejects extremism.
“I don’t work for parties. I work for you,” Suozzi said in the ad. A narrator adds that the congressman “rejects extremism on both sides because you’re always there on our side.”
Meanwhile, the US Chamber of Commerce on Monday awarded Suozzi its “Free Enterprise” award, the first Democrat to receive such an honor. His campaign said the award from the nation’s premier business group proves that he’s a capitalist, not a socialist.
As for other competitive House races, records also reveal that No Going Back PAC is also spending funds to aid Republican challenger Jeanine Driscoll in her quest to unseat first-term Democratic incumbent Laura Gillen in District 4 that covers Nassau County’s south shore beach communities and much of the town of Hempstead.
The Trump-aligned group is also weighing in with cash to help two-term Republican Rep. Mike Lawler beat back a spirited challenge from Democrat Cait Conley in the 17th Congressional District covering the lower Hudson Valley counties of Rockland, Putnam, Westchester and Dutchess.
