Exclusive | DSA calls US Constitution ‘rationalization of pirate kingdom’ in workshop to rewrite it

News RoomBy News RoomJuly 25, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

The NYC chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America bashed the US Constitution as “a rationalization of a pirate kingdom” at a twisted workshop last week where it brainstormed ways to abolish the foundational backbone of the country.

The “How to Write a Constitution” workshop — led by a Los Angeles-born radical author who spent his early childhood in Kenya and whose middle name is Fidel — is part of nationwide leftist effort to abolish the US Senate, Supreme Court, Electoral College and presidency.

“The US constitution is pushing toward a system that looks more and more authoritarian and is not compatible with some vision of Democratic change,” Boston College Law Professor Aziz Rana told the assembled crowd of about 25 people at the DSA’s Lower East Side headquarters, whose red walls are plastered with pictures of the more famous Fidel.

“There’s a deep undemocratic element to it,” he said, claiming that it “empowers the state to engage in various forms of violence.”

“It might establish rights, but the rights are oftentimes going to be the rights of property holders,” he said.

Rana is regularly invited to speak or be interviewed at the organization’s array of events around the country. His 2024 book, “The Constitutional Bind: How Americans Came to Idolize a Document that Fails Them,” has been called by the DSA “a blueprint for the left to return to agitating.”

Like “nepo baby” Mayor Zohran Mamdani who hails from a wealthy family, true to champagne socialist fashion, Rana lives with his wife, Odette Lienau, the dean of BC’s law school, in a $3.4 million Brookline, Mass. mansion.

The couple also owns a second home in Ithaca, NY, worth more than $700,000, according to public records.

Comrades, fed a catered lunch that included beef, lamb and chicken kebabs, labneh and zaatar bread, ate up the anti-constitution agitprop.

“Our constitution was a rationalization of a pirate kingdom,” said one attendee. “That was essentially what we were.”

“We need to take care of each other in a different way than we had been thinking about under the WASP mentality that the God had given us the land to exploit, and that people could be exploited, because it was the manifest destiny of the Europeans to control the world — whatever rationalizing bulls–t they were selling back then.”

Someone else said that anyone should be given the right to vote.

“I think we should abolish voter registration,” commented another. “Everyone who is over the age of 18 and has the mental capacity to vote should automatically have the right. . . . Voter registration kind of shocks me to be honest with you.”

Earlier this month, the DSA issued a new requirement for candidates it endorses to support their full radical agenda moving forward — which could be a real test if “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) ends up on the presidential ticket in 2028.

Critics warned that it’s the DSA making an authoritarian power grab.

“The Senate, Electoral College, and separation of powers weren’t bugs — they were features,” Gordon Sondland, US ambassador to the European Union during the first Trump administration, told The Post.

“The Framers understood that majorities can be just as dangerous as monarchs. Every generation thinks it’s smarter than Madison until it finds itself in the political minority.”
