Just how long was it between pitching outings for Matt Allan?
The Mets prospect last started a competitive game in 2019 before finally returning to the mound Sunday for Low-A St. Lucie.
If that doesn’t sound like a long enough time, the 23-year-old right-hander can break it down a different way.
“I saw on Twitter [now X] it was 2,045 days since my last game that mattered,’’ Allan told The Post by phone Thursday. “I thought, ‘Gosh, that’s a long time.’”
