ESPN’s Mina Kimes Shades Aaron Rodgers for ‘Odd’ Comments About His ‘Pregnant Wife’

News RoomBy News RoomSeptember 9, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

ESPN analyst Mina Kimes addressed Aaron Rodgers’ recent comments about looking forward to retirement with his “pregnant wife.”

“I just don’t know if I’ve ever heard anyone use those words in that way,” Kimes, 41, said on “The Sports Gossip Show” on Tuesday, September 8. “That was my reaction. You know the Bart Simpson [quote], ‘What an odd thing to say.’”

She added, “It was just a strange way of putting it, as opposed to, ‘I want to start a family.’”

Rodgers, 42, is preparing to enter the final year of his storied NFL career when the Pittsburgh Steelers open the season against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 13. Once he hangs up his cleats, he said he plans on starting a family with his wife, Brittani.

“I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” the quarterback recently revealed on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. “And I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Rodgers got married in the spring of 2025, though he has yet to publicly reveal the identity of his wife.

Kimes further questioned Rodgers’ constant desire for people to stop taking such an interest in his personal life, despite the fact that he “keeps bringing it up.”

“I watch interviews with him and press conferences or whatever, and he’s the one who brings it up a lot,” Kimes said on Tuesday.

She added, “On the one hand, you’re very private about this, which is totally your right. But on the other hand, you bring it up a lot, dude! Like out of nowhere. I don’t really know how to parse that. I’m happy for him that he’s happy, but I guess the confusing part for me is what actual level of privacy he is seeking in all of this.”

Kimes described Rodgers as being “very online” and astutely “in tune” with what narratives form about him on social media.

“I think it’s a good way to make yourself mad,” Kimes argued of Rodgers’ behavior. “If you’re someone who is kind of spoiling for a fight, I think there’s a pretty direct correlation with people who spend a lot of time on the internet and their level of spoiling for a fight, generally.”
