The Raiders are off to their best start since 2021, yet nobody is talking about them. Except, of course, for ESPN and NFL Network analyst Kyle Brandt.
Brandt appeared on the ESPN show “Big Day,” hosted by his former NFL Network “Good Morning Football” co-host Peter Schrager, and had an all-time hype message for the Raiders.
Brandt walked onto the set of the show wearing a Raiders letterman jacket that was decked out in patches, including those commemorating their three Super Bowl victories.
“Las Vegas Raiders, listen up. I want you to listen to the silence. Two games. Two double-digit wins. Can you hear that?” Brandt said. “That’s who’s talking about the Raiders. That’s who believes in the Raiders. You know what I don’t wanna listen to anymore?
“I don’t want to listen to the past. I don’t give a damn that there are 23-year-old adults who have never seen the Raiders win in January. Because there are 9-month-old babies that have never seen the Raiders lose in September.”
Brandt went on to call out the Raiders’ nonbelievers, saying nobody pays attention to them because they don’t have prime-time games — while NFL fans will pay attention to the Browns and Chargers, who both have prime-time games later in the season.
The intensity of his rant increased after he said the Raiders weren’t shown any respect for dominating the Chargers last Sunday.
“You slap the Chargers around a little bit, and it’s all, ‘What’s wrong with the Chargers?’ How about what’s right with the Raiders?” Brandt said. “There is more talk about Mike McDaniels’ sideline drip than Klint Kubiak’s record. Nobody wants to hear about the Raiders.”
Brandt makes regular appearances on “Get Up,” “First Take” and “NFL Live,” and said he’s been on “26 football shows today” and none of them want to talk about what’s going right for the Raiders.
“The autumn wind is a Raider, but the A Block is A Chief, Bronco and Charger,” Brandt said.
As Brandt continued, Schrager couldn’t help himself from participating in his rant by going off on “First Take’s” 78-page script, not mentioning a single question about the Raiders but inquiring about tape for the Buccaneers, Panthers and Steelers.
“What am I hot on? I’m hot on the bleepin’ Raiders,” Brandt said. “But nobody else is, and that’s fine. That’s good. That’s great.”
He said the team keeps doing what legendary Raiders owner Al Davis intended: “Just. Win. Baby.”
Brandt’s rant finished with him saying the Raiders will improve to 3-0 after they play the host Saints.
