Eric Dane’s Friends Launch $250K GoFundMe to Support ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star’s Daughters After His Death

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 21, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Eric Dane’s friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign in support of his family after the actor died at age 53 following a battle with ALS.

The campaign, which has a target of $250,000, aims to raise money for the Grey’s Anatomy star’s daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14. Dane, who died on Thursday, February 19, shared Billie and Georgia with wife Rebecca Gayheart.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a hard-fought battle with ALS, leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” the GoFundMe description reads.

Dane first publicly shared he had been diagnosed with ALS in April 2025. The GoFundMe, which has been confirmed as authentic by Us Weekly, detailed the actor’s advocacy for raising awareness of the disease during his health battle.

“Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness. Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease. As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs,” the description continued.

It concluded, “Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.”

Dane’s family confirmed on Thursday that the Euphoria star died following a battle with ALS.

“He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” the statement read. “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.”

The statement concluded: “Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”

Speaking in his final interview, Famous Last Words, which was released on Netflix one day after his death, Dane shared messages for his daughters to hear.

“Billie and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried,” Dane said. “I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we? I remember all the times we spent at the beach, the two of you, me and Mom in Malibu, Santa Monica, Hawaii, Mexico. I see you now playing in the ocean for hours, my water babies. Those days, pun intended, were heaven.”

Dane went on to share that he had learned several things about life from battling ALS and wanted to impart those lessons on his daughters after he was gone.

“I wanna tell you four things I’ve learned from this disease, and I hope you won’t just listen to me. I hope you’ll hear me,” he said. “First, live now, right now, in the present. It’s hard, but I learned to do that. For years, I would wander off mentally, lost in my head for long chunks of time, wallowing in worry and self-pity, shame and doubt.”

Dane also advised Billie and Georgia to “fall in love.”

“Not necessarily fall in love with a person, although I do recommend that as well,” he quipped. “Fall in love with something. Find your passion, your joy [and] find the thing that makes you wanna get up in the morning, drives you through the entire day. I fell in love for the first time when I was about your age. I fell in love with acting.”
