Eagles expected to fire offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo with ‘mass changes’ coming

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 12, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

A shakeup is coming to the Eagles’ coaching staff after they followed up their Super Bowl win with a crushing wild-card exit.

Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is expected to be fired following one season after the offense sputtered.

“When you speak to people around the league, they expect there to be mass changes there to jump-start the offense,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said during “Get Up” on Monday. “So, you’re looking at a new offensive coordinator next year, that’s the expectation there across the league.”

Head coach Nick Sirianni wanted to keep the focus on the present following the game when asked about Patullo, whose performance has been much maligned by media and fans.

“There will be time to evaluate everybody’s performance. Right now, I feel for all our guys in the locker room. All the players, all the coaches,” Sirianni, 44, said. “… There will be time to evaluate everything.”

Patullo, 44, who was elevated from pass game coordinator and associate head coach to offensive coordinator following the departure of Kellen Moore to the Saints, has been under fire for much of the season amid the team’s struggles on his side of the ball.

The ire of the fan base — and its former players — exploded Sunday on the final play call, when all four Eagles wideouts ran go routes on a fourth-and-11.

Analyst Emmanuel Acho, who once suited up for the Birds during his NFL career as a linebacker, called the decision “sickening.”

Footage from the final moments of Sunday’s game has since gone viral, with internet detectives claiming quarterback Jalen Hurts appeared “visibly shocked” over Patullo’s call on the fateful play.

“Obviously, the last play didn’t go as we wanted,” Siranni said afterward.

WOW: #Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was visibly SHOCKED by offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo’s play call for the final 4th down play of the game.

It was a disappointing finish for last year’s Super Bowl winners, who now enter an offseason with questions about their personnel.

In addition to Patullo, who has been with the Eagles since 2021, it remains to be seen how the organization will proceed with star receiver A.J. Brown, who has publicly voiced his frustrations about his role on the offense throughout the year.

A sideline dust-up between Brown and Sirianni did nothing to quell speculation of discord, even with the coach attributing the exchange to emotions “running high” in the postseason.

The Eagles will now join their Super Bowl 2025 opponent, the Chiefs, in watching the remainder of the playoffs from home.

Meanwhile, San Francisco will visit top-seed Seattle on Saturday in an NFC Divisional Round clash.
