DeForest Buckner is elated with the 49ers’ blockbuster trade.
The defensive tackle has received much love from his San Francisco teammates, who are also loving the reunion in the Bay. Buckner responded to George Kittle’s five-word reaction to the Colts deal that sent the Pro Bowler to the 49ers in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick.
“We back Jorge‼️,” Buckner wrote in a caption on his Instagram Stories.
Buckner is reuniting with a handful of his former teammates as the veteran tackle spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers. San Francisco selected him with the No. 7 overall pick in 2016.
While Buckner has been good from the moment he entered the league, the 49ers are getting a seasoned version of the defensive star. After spending six-plus seasons with Indianapolis, Buckner has cemented himself as an immense talent but also a pivotal leader in the locker room.
As the 49ers look to make a deep playoff run, Buckner adds star power to the defensive line as well as veteran leadership on the roster. The NFC West is quickly heating up with the Seahawks and San Francisco both making blockbuster trades this week.
It remains to be seen whether the 49ers front office is finished making moves before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
