Country star Ashley Cooke is opening up about her “scary” heart condition that could end her life at any moment.

During an interview with Digital, Cooke — who is gearing up to launch her Baby Blues World Tour — explained that she’s been diagnosed with Brugada syndrome.

This genetic heart condition is very rare and potentially fatal and can cause dangerous irregular rhythms and sudden cardiac arrest.

“You just have to go get tested for it and hope for the best,” she said. “It’s like young, healthy people that actually are the ones that end up passing away from it just out of nowhere. So, it’s a little scary.”

Cooke explained that it feels like a cloud of fear is constantly following her because she never knows if she could go into cardiac arrest.

“The Hell You Are” singer explained that her cousin, who was also diagnosed with the heart condition, gave her a piece of advice when she received the news.

“One of my cousins who also has Brugada syndrome, we were talking about it for a while, and he was like, ‘Hey, if you believe in God, which I do, your time is going to be your time no matter what. So whether it’s this or something else, just live your life and treat people well and hope for the best,'” Cooke said.

Cooke has allowed her condition to give her “even more of a purpose just to live my life every day.”

“It could be my last [day] because you just never know, all of us in this room, we never know when it’s your last. So just do your best and… If that’s what takes me, that’s all right,” she shared.

“I mean, obviously every city is going to feel huge and different and cool and like a level up from where we’ve been before, but yeah, it’s really cool to know that I’m playing these rooms that I’ve dreamed of playing for so long on my own headline tour,” she began.

Cooke added, “The music on this album is something I’m so proud of, and I just cannot wait for everybody to hear it. And learn the words and sing along. And it’s just, I have a feeling it’s gonna be the best tour yet, the best season of my life yet.”
