Could your car be a stress-calming machine? Inside the 10-minute mini spa in Lincoln’s $100K SUVs

News RoomBy News RoomSeptember 30, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Road rage? Try road relaxation.

When most of us conjure up a wellness escape in our minds, it’s a trip to the spa. Maybe there’s a massage. Some zen tunes. A bit of aromatherapy.

But one luxury car brand is posing the unlikely question: Why drive to the spa when you can drive in the spa?

Seriously. In 2025, Lincoln debuted the Rejuvenate experience, which packages all those spa essentials — back rubs, nature noises, calming scents — right into their luxury SUVs.

But can wellness bells and whistles actually make your travels more chill?

Inside the mellow-mobile

Rejuvenate is offered in the 2026 Lincoln Navigator Reserve, which starts at $99,995, or Navigator Black Label, starting at $114,995. It also comes in the Lincoln Nautilus.

At the press of a button, the wellness-hub-on-wheels activates what the company describes as “a multisensory, in-vehicle experience designed to help reset your day.”

For each experience, you choose from six different experiences that run for five to 10 minutes each.

Aurora Borealis, Elements, Tropical Paradise and Refreshing River all display video and play relaxing soundscapes. Forest and Waterfalls combine video with guided meditations in partnership with the mediation app Calm.

Start a session, and your chosen escape comes on across the panoramic dashboard display and console screen. The sound or meditation plays, while a subtle scent is pumped into the cabin. (Each experience has default settings, but is also fully customizable.)

If you’re the driver, your seat automatically reclines, and a chair massage begins. Passengers have to do that manually.

The theory is that somatic and mindfulness techniques — like stimulating the senses — draw attention to the body and bring the mind to the present, reducing stress.

That sounds great — but it turns out, they’ve got real evidence to back up Rejuvenate as a stress management tool. A Purdue University study found that people’s stress was actually reduced after using it, according to their heart rate variability and EEG metrics.

Not to mention, 98% of participants simply preferred using it rather than not after a stressful activity.

But let’s get real… does an in-car wellness tool actually make driving better?

My husband, Will, and I recently borrowed a 2026 Lincoln Navigator for a six hour-ish drive from Queens to Lake Placid in upstate New York to test it out. A $100,000 car is obviously a bit fancier than our 2017 Volkswagen Jetta — so for sure, being in a comfier car is great for feeling more relaxed.

But what about the “wellness” of it all?

One of the first roadblocks we ran into (ahem) was that Rejuvenate only works when the car is in park and all the doors are closed.

For safety reasons, that totally makes sense. But it means it’s not actually going to calm you down when someone cuts you off or your kids are fighting in the backseat as you cruise down the highway (unless you’re willing to pull into a rest stop for a moment to center yourself).

We found the best use for us was to carve out some time before or after a drive, when we weren’t worrying about traffic.

Once we got to our destination, I picked a 10-minute waterfall meditation, laying back as the smell of a forest after rain filled the cabin and Calm’s Tamara Leavitt came on the speakers to guide my mind.

I did have to switch from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat to get the fully automated experience, but once I was there, I have to admit… it worked.

The stress of getting back to the city on a tight timeline — and the rainy parking lot we were sitting in — all melted away. I felt my muscles relax, and imagined myself at the base of the waterfall on screen.

By the end, I certainly felt more centered and relaxed, and that paid off for the remainder of our four-and-a-half-hour drive home, during which I was able to hold onto a little bit of zen.

I began to realize all the situations people might want to use this for: a mom or dad coming home from work looking to reset before walking in the door. A student at a testing site with pre-exam jitters. A person who hates the dentist but needs to go in for a cleaning. Maybe even a person who just got broken up with over dinner.

What else to know — and takeaways

Let’s talk a bit about the scents: Navigators have space for three scent cartridges, which will run you about $30 for each refill. Cartridges last about 120 hours — so, 720 10-minute sessions — and come in seven scents.

What I love about the fragrances is that they’re quite gentle — nothing like those overbearing pine air fresheners that can knock you over with perfume.

My favorite part was using some of the individual Rejuvenate functions — like the scent and massage — on their own, which can be done while driving. You get the dopamine of shopping around for the one you like best, and then get to enjoy it for hours during a long road trip.

I did find the experiences with guided mediation were much more helpful than the soundscapes. Watching fish float by during “Tropical Paradise” didn’t do much to ground me — nor did the abstract visual interpretations of fire and water during “Elements.” But research shows that visual cues can be good tools for anchoring focus, so these might be more effective for other people.

(It’s worth noting there are only two guided mediations at the moment, but Lincoln told The Post they plan on rolling out more.)

For now, Will and I will carry on with our Jetta, though the next time we’re watching the crowd gather outside Costco, I’m sure we’ll be itching for a 10-minute waterfall meditation.
