Cody Bellinger has enjoyed a strong initial season in The Bronx, both at the plate and in making himself extra valuable with his versatility across all three outfield positions.
Notably, the 30-year-old Bellinger also can become a free agent after the 2025 season concludes — if he decides to opt out of the final year of his contract at $25 million.
But the former NL MVP insists he only is thinking about helping the Yankees shake off their recent slide and secure a playoff spot.
“As cliché as it sounds, I’m really just taking it day by day,” Bellinger said when asked about his contract before Tuesday’s game against the Twins at the Stadium. “There’s like 45 games left in the regular season, and obviously we have dreams and aspirations of getting to the postseason and back to the World Series.
