CNN’s Van Jones warns far left: ‘STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes’

WASHINGTON — Famed progressive CNN pundit Van Jones is blasting the far left for pushing “crazy ideas” and “turds” — while warning the mainstream of the Democratic Party is too worn down to rein in the extremists.

“I’m a strong Democrat, with a winning bipartisan track record. I’m rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life,” Jones said on X over the weekend.

“But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive,” he said.

I’m tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas.

‘No police, no prisons, no borders’ is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive.

“These ideas are REGRESSIVE.

“Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice,” Jones said. “But we see you.

“Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent,” he said. “But we don’t need [party] poopers.

“So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes. They aren’t. And we are smart enough to know the difference.”

The Democratic Socialists of America has touted four major victories in congressional primaries thus far into the 2026 midterm cycle and even more wins in other races.

There have also been a handful of leftwing non-DSA members who have eked out primary victories, such as disgraced oyster farmer Graham Platner, who ended up having to drop his Senate bid amid rape accusations.

In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed is also running a very close race against Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) ahead of the Aug. 4 primary.

Most of these far-left candidates have campaigned heavily against Israel and on a platform of abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

DSA-backed candidate New York Democrat Darializa Avila Chevalier once backed abolishing prisons.

Jones underscored how, without prisons, “anyone in your neighborhood could do whatever they wanted,” and tore into lefties who are cheering on terror groups.
