Robert Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines allegedly sold their house to comedian Chelsea Handler.
“I bought RFK Jr.’s house in Los Angeles five years ago,” Handler, 54, said on the Thursday, March 5, episode of her “Dear Chelsea” podcast. “I did not know I was buying it from him. It was anonymous.”
Handler further claimed that she purchased the property from “a trust,” which was how Kennedy, 72, and Hines, 60, sold the house.
“It was all private. I bought his house from him and Cheryl Hines, [but] I still have not lived in this house. That’s how f***ed up this house was,” she quipped. The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house?”
Handler apparently couldn’t move into the house over building issues.
“When they opened up the house, they were like, ‘This house is the most toxic environment. You cannot live here for at least two years.’ I’m not exaggerating any of this,” Handler said. “It was a disaster, and I didn’t know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps.”
The I’ll Have What She’s Having author still doesn’t have an answer about some of the home’s features.
“It’s cursed, I mean, three people have come in and said, ‘This house is cursed,’” Handler lamented. “In the last week of inspection, they came in. Everything’s been redone, redone, redone. They’re like, ‘Oh, there’s a little outdoor storage unit that’s been there since I bought the property, and they’re like, ‘This is illegal.’”
According to Handler, she now has to “remove [Kennedy’s] illegal bulls***” from her property.
“I’m, like, ‘How did they not find this upon the first inspection?’” she added. “They had the audacity to leave me a note. Cheryl Hines left me a note saying, ‘Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea.’ I’m, like, ‘How about a f***ing foundation? That’s what you could do for me.’ Anyway, I’m not angry about it or anything.”
Handler stressed that she’s “totally over” her real estate saga but is “still working through it.”
Hines and Kennedy, who have not publicly addressed Handler’s home concerns, have been married since 2014. Their relationship was put under a microscope in 2024 after Kennedy was accused of having an “inappropriate personal relationship” with journalist Olivia Nuzzi. He denied ever having a physical relationship with Nuzzi.
“Bobby and I talk about everything, so that’s how we move through everything,” Hines told the Wall Street Journal in August 2025 when asked about the scandal. “We’re really good friends, and we trust each other. One would deduce that we love each other and are still married and whatever we’ve been through is behind us.”
