Bringing Up Bates alum Erin Bates is on the mend after she was hospitalized for septic shock.
“With tears in our eyes, we are praising the Lord that we are on the road to recovery,” a Saturday, September 6, post on Erin and husband Chad Paine’s joint Instagram account reads. “Your prayers have definitely touched heaven. 🙏🏻”
Bates, 34, and Paine, 38, also uploaded a video of the reality TV alum awake and kissing her newborn son, Henry, from her hospital bed.
Bates’ large family and friends were overjoyed by the promising update, offering their continued well-wishes in the comments section.
“Oh my word! This is precious,” Erin’s brother Lawson Bates replied. “HIS LITTLE SMILE 🙌🏼.”
Modern Family Farmhouse blogger Sarah Molitor, for her part, called Erin’s recovery “a miracle.”
“Lord, thank you!! Thank you for your kindness to Erin and Chad,” Molitor commented on Saturday. “Continue to touch Erin’s body! Continue to give wisdom to the doctors for right steps forward. Continue to give rest and support for them as they walk out this recovery! Equip them with all they need right now, each hour! All for your glory, Lord! In Jesus’ name.”
Shortly after Erin gave birth to Henry, her seventh child, in August, she was hospitalized with a severe UTI and kidney infection that turned into sepsis, a serious infection that can cause organ failure, tissue damage or even death, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
“She is currently still in the ICU as doctors continue to treat, diagnose and search for answers,” Paine wrote via Instagram earlier this month. “We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world. We are holding onto God’s promises.”
Days later, Erin faced a setback.
“Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erin’s infection was getting better, but we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty and tears,” Paine wrote via Instagram on Thursday, September 4. “She is in the ICU, and the doctors are running scans and tests to determine the cause. Erin is extremely weak and spent hours only half-conscious.”
According to Paine, it was difficult to watch Erin navigate her health battle.
“As her husband, it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced — to sit by her side and watch her struggle while being so helpless to ease her suffering,” Paine concluded. “I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend. The hours have been long and heavy, and I know many hearts are aching to see her this way, along with mine.”
