Bill, Hillary Clinton to testify on Jeffrey Epstein relationship — cave to Comer ahead of contempt vote

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 2, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Bill and Hillary Clinton caved Monday to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer’s (R-Ky.) demand that they testify before the panel about their relationships with deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.

“I understand that the Clintons have agreed to appear for depositions and have agreed to the terms that you laid out in your most recent letter,” Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-Va.) revealed during a House Rules Committee hearing on Comer’s push to force a vote holding the former president and first lady in contempt of Congress.

A spokesman for Bill Clinton confirmed the development.

“They negotiated in good faith. You did not. They told you under oath what they know, but you don’t care. But the former President and former Secretary of State will be there,” Angel Urena wrote on X.

“They look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone,” he added.

The Clintons indicated they would “appear for depositions on mutually agreeable dates” and asked that the House scrap a contempt vote expected to take place on Wednesday, according to the New York Times.

Nine Democrats on the oversight panel previously voted with Republicans in support of holding Bill Clinton in contempt, while three Democrats backed holding Hillary Clinton in contempt.

Both defied Comer’s subpoena for months, publicly skipping respective deadlines to provide the panel with depositions.

Comer appeared skeptical of the Clintons’ latest offer, and did not immediately move to drop the contempt vote.

“The Clintons’ counsel has said they agree to terms, but those terms lack clarity yet again and they have provided no dates for their depositions,” Comer said in a statement.

“The only reason they have said they agree to terms is because the House has moved forward with contempt,” he added. “I will clarify the terms they are agreeing to and then discuss next steps with my committee members.”

The Clintons could serve up to one year, but not less than one month, in jail and be fined between $100 and $1,000, if prosecuted, convicted and sentenced.

Earlier Monday, Comer had rejected an offer from the couple proposing a “limitation on the scope of President Clinton’s testimony” and a sworn declaration from ex-Secretary of State, in lieu of depositions.

Comer argued Clintons’ “desire for special treatment is both frustrating and an affront to the American people’s desire for transparency,” and said having the former president testify for only four hours, as his lawyer requested, would not be enough time.

The Clintons’ attorney emailed the new offer while Comer was testifying in the middle of the Rules Committee meeting.

The House Rules Committee took a break shortly after it learned of the new letter to give Comer some time to reassess whether a contempt vote was still necessary.

House Rules Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) later announced that she would postpone consideration of the contempt measure until at least Tuesday.

The rules panel was the final hurdle Comer’s contempt measure needed to clear before heading to the full House for a vote.

The Clintons were first issued the subpoenas for testimony by Comer on Aug. 5, 2025, nearly six months ago.

Bill Clinton has admitted having a friendship with Epstein in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but he has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

The former president has reportedly flown on Epstein’s private jet dozens of times, but he denies ever visiting the convicted child sex offender’s notorious private island in the Caribbean.
