Adrian Grenier Responds to Those Entourage Reboot Rumors: ‘It Can’t be the Same Thing’ (Exclusive)

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 14, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Actor Adrian Grenier is responding to rumors an Entourage reboot is finally in the works.

“I would love to do the show again, obviously,” Grenier, 49, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, March 13, while promoting his new movie Self Custody, a bitcoin thriller available to stream on Amazon Prime. “You know, I’m torn because it’s an iconic show that defined an era. I don’t know how we would do that today, because we’d have to address a lot of things that are current.”

The Devil Wears Prada star continued, “But that could… that’s an opportunity as well. I think it can’t be the same thing, because it was so tied to that time. It’s a time and a moment and a vibe that I don’t think you can replicate.”

Entourage, which debuted on HBO in 2004, followed young movie star Vincent Chase (Grenier) and his crew of supportive — if not slightly asinine and innately problematic — friends (Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven). The show, based on Mark Wahlberg’s real-life rise to superstardom, was created by Doug Ellin and ran for eight seasons before its 2011 series finale.

During that time, the show won several Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe awards, while its subsequent film earned $49.3 million at the box office.

“The characters, I think, are still relevant, and I think the way they would deal with modernity is interesting as well,” Grenier told Us. “You know, Johnny Drama (Dillon) as an avatar could be funny, you know? As an AI. There’s a lot of room for fun within those characters.”

He continued, “So yeah, I want to do it. Are you gonna start a movement? Are we gonna get the fans to demand it? If the fans demand it, we have to do it. That’s just how it works.”

Of course, with viewership demand comes the need for a budget, script and so on — and Grenier admitted to Us that a few more chips would have to fall into place before a reboot could finally grace our television screens.

“I think we need the script and we need the money,” he explained. “That’s how it works. That’s just the biz. Maybe we ask AI.”

Instead of AI, Grenier could also ask his Self Custody director and co-star Garrett Patten, who has some ideas of where the infamous Entourage gang would be if a reboot gets the greenlight.

“Here’s my idea: They say that Vinny Chase disappeared to Texas to live on a ranch for the last 10 years, and the guys go back to revive him and bring him back to Hollywood, and the gang gets back together again to take over the time,” Patten told Us on Friday. “They find Adrian, he’s got a beard, and he’s living out on the ranch, and they clean him up and bring him back to Hollywood.”

While a possible Entourage reboot is still up in the air, those jonesing for the days of Vincent Chase can find their fix in Grenier’s latest film.

“If you loved Entourage, you’re gonna love Self Custody,” Grenier said.
