Aaron Glenn never considered Jets QB change despite Brady Cook’s struggles

News RoomBy News RoomDecember 21, 20251 ViewsNo Comments

NEW ORLEANS — Despite an offense that produced just two field goals, Jets coach Aaron Glenn said he did not consider a quarterback change during the second half of Sunday’s 29-6 loss to the Saints.

Rookie Brady Cook started for the second straight week and struggled mightily.

Veteran Tyrod Taylor was healthy and served as his backup.

But Glenn stuck with Cook.

“I just thought at that time like Brady would give us the best chance to win,” Glenn said. “I thought this was a game also that I’ve been talking about all week that we was in a situation where the game was right there for us. I really wanted to see how he was going to operate.”

Cook completed 22-for-35 passing for 188 yards, was sacked eight times and turned the ball over twice — one fumble and one interception.

Cook looked confused by Saints blitzes and held the ball way too long on many plays.

He only completed one pass that traveled more than 9 yards in the air.

“Good moments, but not enough,” Cook said. “Not enough points. Not enough sustained drives. We put our defense on the field way too often. Too many punts. That’s it.”

Cook got the start last week in Jacksonville when Taylor and Justin Fields were hurt.

But Taylor was healthy enough to be the backup this week and Fields was in uniform as the emergency quarterback.

Still, Glenn stuck with Cook, the surest sign that the Jets are no longer interested in winning games.

The tank is on.

After the game, Glenn was asked if he is playing Cook to evaluate him or if Cook really gives the Jets the best chance to win.

“I think it’s a little bit of both,” Glenn said. “I think he gives us the best chance to win but we also want to evaluate where he’s at. That’s a lot of guys on this roster, we’re trying to evaluate where they’re at, too. We had guys that were hurt, our two quarterbacks, and we know that. But I do think he gives us a chance to win games. He wouldn’t be in there if he didn’t give us a chance to win games.”
