The Jets added a kicker on Wednesday, agreeing to a one-year deal with Cade York, according to a source.
The Jets surprisingly did not re-sign Nick Folk this week and he agreed to a two-year contract with the Falcons. That leaves the Jets shopping for a kicker again and York is now up for the job.
York was a fourth-round draft pick of the Browns in 2022 but he has bounced around to different teams in the last few years. He spent 2023 on the practice squad of the Titans and was on the Giants briefly. He was on the Browns in the 2024 offseason and then was traded to the Commanders. Washington cut him after he missed two field goals in the season opener. He later kicked for the Bengals that season and then spent time on the Saints last year but did not appear in a game.
He is 33-for-45 on field-goal attempts in his career and 51-for-54 on extra points. The Jets also have Lenny Krieg on their roster, who they signed to a futures contract in January. They could add another leg before training camp.
Folk only missed one field goal last year after the Jets signed him in training camp. The veteran was one of the most consistent performers on the team.
