Meghan McCain Defends Bad Bunny’s 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, Piers Morgan Responds

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 9, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Meghan McCain is weighing in after Bad Bunny took the stage at the 2026 Super Bowl.

“I’m sorry but I just genuinely question your taste level if you didn’t enjoy the Bad Bunny halftime show,” McCain, 41, wrote via X on Monday, February 9. “And everything in life doesn’t have to be ruined with politics.”

Controversial broadcaster Piers Morgan reacted to McCain’s post, writing, “Agreed 👍.”

The post was met with mixed remarks from other X users, with one person responding, “Liking or not liking a halftime show isn’t a measure of someone’s ‘taste level.’ It’s just preference. And I agree — not everything needs to be political, including disliking a performance.”

A second person wrote, “Hey Meghan…I actually agree with most things you post, but not this. The Superbowl is not the place to INTRODUCE a NEW artist that 80% of the public has never heard of. It’s just not the place to test.”

“This is a joke, right? I think a lot of what they did was great, but since I didn’t understand a word Bad Bunny was singing for basically the entire show, and since I don’t listen to music I can’t understand, yeah, I wasn’t a huge fan of it at all. And no one I know was, either,” said a third X user underneath the conservative former View cohost’s post.

Bad Bunny, the first musician to be named Spotify’s Global Top Artist for four different years and have the most-streamed studio album of all time on the platform with Un Verano Sin Ti, took the stage at halftime on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, performing a medley of his hits with a slew of celebrity guests. He sang exclusively in Spanish.

Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin joined Bad Bunny, 31, for the performance, with early reports claiming the set garnered more than 135.4 million views. Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Alix Earle and Karol G were among the celebrities taking part in the production, a vibrant homage to Puerto Rico with sugarcane fields, farmers, local vendors and notes of reggaeton and salsa throughout the performance.

Prior to the halftime show, conservative politicians and pundits, including President Donald Trump, criticized the NFL for choosing the Spanish-speaking singer to headline the event. Weeks before the big game, Trump declared he would not be attending and announced distaste for Bad Bunny as well as Green Day, who ushered in Super Bowl festivities with a medley of hits before kickoff.

“I’m anti-them,” the president told The New York Post on January 23. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”

Following the halftime show, Trump took to Truth Social to bash the headliner.

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” he wrote. “It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

The post continued, “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”

Turning Point USA, the organization founded by the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk and now led by his wife, Erika Kirk, produced Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show in protest of Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. Turning Point USA’s effort was met with some technical difficulties just hours before the performance.

“UPDATE: Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to stream The All-American Halftime Show on X,” the organization announced via X on Sunday. “Head on over to our YouTube channel tonight around 8PM ET to watch the full show.”

The alternate halftime show garnered an estimated 6.1 million concurrent viewers on YouTube and featured performers Kid Rock, Gabby Barrett, Brantley Gilbert and Lee Brice.
