Bay Area Congressman Eric Swalwell claims the congressional gym has become a confessional where Republicans privately unload on President Donald Trump even as they support his agenda publicly.
“The truth really comes out in the congressional gym,” Swalwell told TMZ.
Swalwell claimed that Republican Trump supporters in Congress trash the president in between reps at the gym.
“It’s quite frustrating because the s–t that they talk about the president and knowing what he’s doing is wrong, but you also hear the fear,” Swalwell shared.
Swalwell, a self-professed gym rat and governor candidate who posted a video of himself benching 90 lbs during the government shutdown last summer, claimed his Republican colleagues “view Congress like [World Wrestling Entertainment].”
“Like they’re one persona in the hearings, and then when the cameras are off and they’re below ground and there’s no press, they’re completely different.”
Swalwell declined to share which representatives can bench press the most.
