3 Best Drama Movies to Watch on Netflix, Ranked by IMDb Rating (February 2026)

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 12, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

Looking for some drama? Netflix has you covered.

Whether you’re looking for something a little funny, a little thrilling or totally oddball, Netflix has all sorts of drama movies to choose from starring your favorite A-listers like Meg Ryan, Ben Stiller and more.

This February, Watch With Us has picked three of the best drama movies to watch on the platform right now, and we ranked them based on IMDb score.

Our first pick is the new Netflix original The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Keep reading for the full list of recommendations.

3. ‘The Rip’ (2026)

IMDb rating: 6.8

After receiving a tip about an address in a town nearby, Miami detectives Dane Dumars (Matt Damon), J.D. Byrne (Ben Affleck), Mike Ro (Steven Yeun), Numa Baptiste (Teyona Taylor) and Lolo Salazar (Catalina Sandino Moreno) head to the location expecting to find a stash of a couple of hundred thousand dollars. Instead, the cops find a massive, multi-million dollar stash of drug cartel money hidden in giant buckets in the walls. But when group leader Dumars fails to call in the stash promptly, suspicions arise and loyalties are tested as the group comes to believe someone in their ranks isn’t who they seem.

The Rip is a gripping little crime drama produced by Affleck and Damon’s own Artists’ Equity company, who were able to negotiate a first-of-its-kind deal for their crew to receive a bonus should the film perform well on Netflix. It did, resulting in not only a windfall for the hard-working crew, but also another big win for a Netflix original production. The Rip is a highly entertaining throwback that is tightly wound, twisty and well-acted by the talented cast.

2. ‘Saturday Night’ (2024)

IMDb rating: 6.9

The first broadcast of Saturday Night Live back in 1975 has become the stuff of myths, and Saturday Night takes that legend and imagines what really happened in the hours leading up to this pop culture-changing moment. Unsurprisingly, it was a particularly tense period, in which producer Lorne Michaels (Gabriel LaBelle) had to wrangle his talented cast of comedians with larger-than-life personalities, such as Chevy Chase (Cory Michael Smith), John Belushi (Matt Wood), Gilda Radner (Ella Hunt) and Dan Aykroyd (Dylan O’Brien).

While the cast of Saturday Night doesn’t necessarily nail the likenesses of the comic legends they’re portraying, they do a terrific job of capturing their necessary essence through wholly committed performances. The frenetic, fast-paced direction that captures the chaos from which an icon was born, and nostalgic fondness for one of the greatest eras of comedy makes Saturday Night both a wildly fun and absorbing time capsule into American entertainment history.

1. ‘Red Rocket’ (2021)

IMDb rating: 7.1

When Mikey Saber (Simon Rex) fails to make it big as a porn star in Los Angeles, he returns home to his roots in Texas City, Texas, to take stock of his life. But Mikey has anything but his tail between his legs: he’s a charismatic con man, and he knows exactly what to say to make both friends and family fall for his crap all over again.

Some people are more immune to his charms, like his ex-wife, Lexi (Bree Elrod), who has already been burned by Mikey too many times. But teenager Strawberry (Suzanna Son) falls for Mikey hook, line and sinker, and the middle-aged Mikey enters into a romantic relationship with her; another victim on his self-indulgent path of destruction.

Mikey Saber is deplorable, degenerate and all-around a terrible person — and that’s exactly what makes him so interesting to watch. Through deft filmmaking and screenwriting, Anora director Sean Baker crafts Red Rocket around a protagonist who is the worst of the worst, and yet somehow you both hate him and want him to succeed just as much as he convinces himself he will. In addition to flawed and colorful characters, Baker’s film evokes a lived-in quality from its production design and non-professional actors. Plus, Rex’s performance is so fearless and pitch-perfect that it should have garnered him an Oscar nomination.
