2026 Stanley Cup odds: The Avalanche enter the playoffs as the favorite

The Colorado Avalanche have been the favorite to win the Stanley Cup for essentially the entire season.

The Avs were part of a pack of teams atop the board before Opening Night, but they quickly separated themselves from the rest of the group with a historic start to the campaign.

Colorado went 31-2-7 through the first 40 games of the season, forcing bookmakers to shorten their price to win the Stanley Cup all the way down to +220 at its high-water mark.

The Avs, understandably, were not able to keep up that pace, and their odds to lift the cup have come back down to earth along with them.

Colorado is +300 to win the Stanley Cup at BetMGM Sportsbook, putting them just ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning at +500.

No other team has single-digit odds ahead of Round 1, which gets underway on Saturday.

2026 Stanley Cup odds

  • Colorado Avalanche +300
  • Tampa Bay Lightning +500
  • Carolina Hurricanes +500
  • Dallas Stars 10/1
  • Vegas Golden Knights 10/1
  • Edmonton Oilers 13/1
  • Buffalo Sabres 14/1
  • Minnesota Wild 15/1
  • Ottawa Senators 20/1
  • Pittsburgh Penguins 22/1
  • Montreal Canadiens 25/1
  • Utah Mammoth 45/1
  • Boston Bruins 60/1
  • Anaheim Ducks 66/1
  • Los Angeles Kings 66/1
  • Philadelphia Flyers 66/1

Things get bunched up after the favorites.

The Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights round out the top five at 10/1, but they’ve both got some red flags to deal with this spring.

For Vegas, it’s taken a coaching change to get its act together, while Dallas is dealing with a couple of factors outside its control.

Not only is Dallas banged up with Roope Hintz out for the early part of the first round and Miro Heiskanen questionable, but the Stars have to run a gauntlet to the Western Conference Finals.

Dallas, which finished with the third-best record in the regular season, will take on the Minnesota Wild, who finished seventh overall, in Round 1. The winner of that series will likely take on the Avalanche in Round 2.

The Buffalo Sabres, a triple-digit long shot before the season is the third favorite in the East at 14/1 after they shocked everybody and won the Atlantic Division ahead of Tampa Bay.

Perhaps the most interesting price on the board is Ottawa at 20/1.

The Sens are the No. 8 seed in the East, but have shorter odds than half the teams on that side of the bracket despite taking on Carolina in Round 1.

That tells you how much respect the Sens are getting from bettors thanks to a scorching run down the stretch that saw them go from 80/1 outsider at the Olympic break to trendy dark horse pick before the playoffs.
