HOUSTON — Gleyber Torres was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning, and he took himself out of the game in the bottom of the frame.

After getting drilled on the hand by a pitch in the top of the seventh inning, Torres pulled himself from the game in the bottom of the inning on Friday night at Minute Maid Park.

Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake was visiting Victor Gonzalez on the mound when Torres walked off the field, still appearing to have trouble with the right hand that he had been flexing since getting hit by Astros reliever Tayler Scott.

Jahmai Jones replaced Torres at second base.

The Yankees had a scare earlier in the night when Aaron Boone and a trainer tended to a hunched-over Juan Soto after he ran the bases, but he remained in the game and appeared to just be dealing with cramps.
