Wolverhampton has a sense of humor.
After putting up a historically bad record through the first 25 games of the Premier League season, Wolves have embraced the freedom that has come with the knowledge that their relegation is inevitable. Wolverhampton held first-place Arsenal to a 2-2 draw on Feb. 18, and then upset third-place Aston Villa last weekend.
Perhaps no team is impacting the races at the top of the table more than last-place Wolves, and they’ll have a chance to do it again on Tuesday when they host Liverpool at the Molineux.
Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton odds, prediction
While Wolverhampton’s fate is all but sealed, Liverpool has plenty left to accomplish this season. The Reds are battling with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Aston Villa for an automatic bid into the Champions League, and they’re still alive in two tournaments.
Liverpool will play Galatasaray in the Round of 16 in the Champions League, and, as fate would have it, they’ll play Wolves at the Molineux Stadium again on Friday in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Everything came easy for Liverpool last season, but the Reds have had to put in some serious elbow grease just to get into the mix for a spot in the top five. Defensively, everything checks out for Arne Slot’s side, but the offensive side of things has been a little less inspiring this campaign.

The Reds are fifth in the Premier League in goals and expected goals created, and they’re seventh in shots on target per 90 minutes. Those are still good numbers, but not what we’re used to seeing from this outfit in the offensive third of the pitch.
Wolverhampton would kill for those kinds of stats.
Wolves have only scored 20 goals in 29 matches this season, and they’ve been shutout in five of their last eight games in the Premier League.
That said, Wolverhampton is playing its best soccer of the campaign right now, and Liverpool will know it can’t overlook the West Midlands club after what happened to Aston Villa.
There’s also the awkwardness of the looming higher-stakes rematch on Friday.
All of this should set up for a pretty rigid match on Tuesday, and I wouldn’t be shocked if we see a snoozer. The draw is the way to go for what could be a low-event match.
