Anna Duggar became a member of the expansive Duggar family after marrying eldest son Josh Duggar in 2008.
Nearly two decades after Anna and Josh tied the knot, the 19 Kids and Counting alum was arrested in 2021 for receiving and possessing child pornography. Josh, who has continued to maintain his innocence, was convicted in 2022 and sentenced to 151 months in prison.
Anna, who shares seven children with Josh, has not publicly addressed his arrest and has remained by his side.
“[Anna and Josh’s kids] her No. 1 priority and that will never change,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2022. “She’s with them all the time. She’s going to stand by her husband and she’s going to continue raising their kids to the best of her ability.”
As Anna kept her focus on her kids, she took a step back from the spotlight and seemingly opted against attending public family gatherings.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar
Josh Duggar is the eldest child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who also share 18 younger children. After Josh’s arrest, they issued a statement.
“We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time,” Jim Bob and Michelle told Us in August 2021. “The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious. It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light, and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family.”
Months later, Anna gave birth to her and Josh’s seventh baby.
“We are always delighted to welcome another grandchild,” the former TLC matriarch and patriarch told Us in November 2021. “They are each a beautiful treasure from the Lord.”
Jill Duggar
After Josh Duggar’s arrest, his sister Jill Duggar advocated for Anna Duggar to end their marriage. (Jill previously claimed that Josh molested her as a teenager, which his legal team denied at the time.)
“I have no idea why Anna has decided to stay with Josh, and what she is dealing with there and everything,” Jill told Access Hollywood in September 2023. “I have no idea, and I’m just, I guess, watching with everybody else, kind of just what unfolds. I have seen her on a few occasions, but I also want to respect [her]. I know she’s asked for some space, so we want to respect that as well.”
Joseph and Kendra Duggar
Josh Duggar’s brother Joseph Duggar was arrested in March 2026 for unlawful sexual activity with a minor. Before he entered a not guilty plea, Joseph stayed in police custody for nearly two weeks. In that time, Us confirmed that Anna Duggar sent him multiple emails.
“You’ve got our prayers. We love you — however we can help, please let us know,” Anna wrote per email records obtained by Us from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas. “Please let me know if I can help get things set up so you can call and talk with Kendra. Just remember, don’t talk about anything legal unless you are with an attorney. Everything said in these messages, phone calls and video chats are recorded and turned over to prosecutors.”
Anna inquired about Joseph’s health and safety, also advising him to speak to the jail chaplain about providing books to read. (Joseph told his wife, Kendra Duggar, he had found solace reading the Bible while behind bars.)
“Are they keeping you in solitary, or will they let you go into a pod? Joshua‘s experience there at Washington County was fairly safe,” Anna wrote in her email. “If there are any concerns for your health, or safety, please let me know. On a practical side, I think commissary has a two-week delay. If you will be there awhile, we definitely want to send some goodies your way.”
Anna further revealed that she was in touch with Kendra. (Kendra was arrested two days after Joseph on four misdemeanor counts of child endangerment. She was released on bond but has yet to assume custody of their four kids again.)
“I was amazed with how clearly she thought, how focused and articulate she was,” Anna added in her message. “She loves you deeply. She was strong on the phone call, except for when she talked about it being a month before she can see the kids. My heart breaks for all of you. I know she will win in the end … it just might take time. Kendra is an amazing woman — the Grace of God is flowing from her life. She is a gem!”
Joseph was ultimately released from police custody on $600,000 bail at the end of the month.
Amy Duggar
Josh Duggar’s cousin Amy Duggar King claimed to People in June 2023 that she tried reaching out to Anna Duggar following his arrest.
“With Anna, I have tried. I have sent text messages, I have sent emails. I’ve tried,” Amy claimed. “I don’t know if her phone’s being monitored. I don’t know if she’s turned it off [and] she’s gotten a new one. I’ve tried on Instagram, I’ve tried on Twitter. She wants nothing to do with it at all, and that’s her decision.”
Amy has advocated for Anna to leave Josh in light of his sexual misconduct allegations. (A source told Us in 2022 that Josh and Anna don’t believe in divorce.)
“It just sucks because I want to be there and I want to help,” Amy added to the outlet. “It doesn’t have to involve cameras or fame or anything. It’s just family reaching out to family.”
Two months later, Amy alleged that she saw Anna at a mutual family friend’s funeral.
“I was hugging my friend’s mom and I looked up and [Anna] was literally a couple inches away from me,” Amy said in an August 2023 TikTok video. “She’s obviously right there in front of me, so I go, ‘Oh,’ completely startled that I’m literally seeing her face after years. I said, ‘Anna,’ and I kind of patted her back and she said, ‘Just give me space.’ I gave her space, I didn’t make it a big deal and I walked away.”
