Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were one of Hollywood’s biggest power couples before their recent separation.
Urban and Kidman met in 2005 and tied the knot the following year. The pair expanded their family with daughter Sunday Rose in 2008 followed by daughter Faith Margaret in 2010. (Kidman is also mother to daughter Isabella and son Connor, whom she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)
“I wish I could have met him much earlier and had way more children with him. But I didn’t,” Kidman said of her relationship with Urban in a July 2015 interview with Vogue. “If I could have had two more children with him, that would have been just glorious. But as Keith says, ‘The wanting mind, Nicole. Shut it down.’”
Throughout their marriage, Kidman and Urban were by each other’s sides throughout their successes. However, things changed in September 2025, when Us Weekly confirmed that Urban and Kidman had separated after 19 years of marriage. That same month, Kidman filed for divorce and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

How Keith Urban Built His Music Empire
Urban got his start in Australia’s country music scene before he moved to Nashville in 1992. He was the frontman of the band The Ranch, which dropped its first and sole album in 1997. Two years later, the country singer went solo with his debut self-titled album. As a solo artist, Urban found success right away as he won the Top New Male Vocalist Award at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards and the 2001 Country Music Association’s Horizon Award.
In 2002, Urban followed up with his album, Golden Road, which included his first number-one song, “Somebody Like You.” Golden Road went certified triple platinum and also included the track “You’ll Think of Me,” which earned Urban his first Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Urban continued to release more albums and earned three more Grammys. He’s recorded 13 studio albums. In 2012, Urban was indicted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

“I don’t want to be away from my family for too long, so I don’t need a rule. I’m really lucky that I get to tour the way I do, which is kind of three shows in a row, and then three to four days off. Then three shows in a row,” he told Yahoo Entertainment in May 2025. “It’s pretty rare to even be gone for two weeks. It’s fortuitous where Nashville is [located] in that it’s a fairly decent flying time to a lot of places.”

In 1983, Kidman started acting as a teen in Australia, but briefly paused her career at the time after her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Four years later, she returned and snagged a role in the 1987 miniseries Vietnam.

That same year, Kidman also starred in her iconic AMC Theaters commercial titled “We Make Movies Better.” Two years later, Kidman starred and executive-produced the Paramount+ television series Special Ops: Lioness.

When Did Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Split?
News broke on September 29, that Kidman and Urban separated after nearly two decades of marriage. Kidman filed for divorce the following day and requested to be named the “primary residential parent” of her and Urban’s minor children, per docs obtained by Us. Kidman also submitted a marital dissolution agreement signed by both her and Urban which included a parenting plan, a child support plan and a “parenting seminar order.”
A well-connected Nashville source told Us in October 2025 that Urban and Kidman “quietly separated” before the news broke and were trying to make things work.
“They had been quietly separated for a while now but needed time to figure out if they were going to actually divorce,” the insider explained. “She had faith they could work it out.”
