President Trump is reportedly expected to meet with Gulf leaders to discuss the Iran war next week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The high-level meeting – slated for next Tuesday – will focus on the next steps in the war with Iran, including the Trump administration’s postwar strategy, sources told Axios Wednesday.
Leaders or foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman are expected to attend the meeting with Trump.
One source told Axios the meeting could be expanded to include other Arab and Muslim leaders.
The Gulf states, and US military bases within them, have been battered by Iranian missile and drone attacks throughout the war.
The war has also roiled Arab nations economically, disrupting their exports of oil and natural gas.
The Trump administration’s “day-after plan” for Iran is not expected to be finalized until after the November midterm elections, the outlet reported.
Trump has recently taken to saying that the war will conclude shortly after the fall contests.
Vice President JD Vance similarly told The Post earlier this week that the nearly seven-month-long conflict will enter a “much different phase in a couple of months.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also looking to huddle with Trump at the UN General Assembly, but a meeting has not yet been scheduled, according to Axios.
The White House did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
