President Trump used his remarks to Republican lawmakers to brag about first lady Melania Trump’s “hot” film, noting his wife is a “movie star.”
“Can you believe this? That movie was hot, and it is hot. She became a movie star,” he said. “It was a good movie.”
Melania’s self-titled documentary broke box office records for its opening numbers.
The film, which premiered at the Trump-Kennedy Center in January, focuses on the 20 days leading up to her husband’s inauguration.
“Melania,” directed by Brett Ratner, debuted to $7 million, surpassing recent hits like 2024’s “Am I Racist?” which opened to $5.4 million, Deadline reported last month.
The $40 million production is on track to be the best-performing non-fiction feature in the last 10 years, according to the first lady.
Amazon MGM Studios and Muse Films, a production company launched by Melania late last year, produced the film.
It premiered on Amazon Prime on Monday.“You will see humor, you will see grief, you will see fashion,” the first lady told reporters at the premiere when asked what the audience can expect.
She also noted that viewers would learn “what it takes from going from private citizen to first lady again.”
