President Trump appeared to call for his predecessor to be thrown behind bars while lashing out at a report claiming the Biden-era Arctic Frost investigation into him began on shaky grounds.
“He is a CRIMINAL AND SHOULD BE IN JAIL. A MAJOR LOWLIFE AND FAILURE. An ugly person, both inside and out! I beat him badly, and love watching him squirm now,” Trump sniped on Truth Social on Thursday.
Trump didn’t name former President Joe Biden directly, but appeared to be referencing him, while sharing a Just the News article about how former prosecutors and FBI agents thought the impetus for the Arctic Frost probe was weak.
The White House neither confirmed nor denied that Trump was referring to Biden or someone else when contacted by The Post Tuesday.
Arctic Frost was the probe of an effort by some of Trump’s allies to overturn the 2020 election by presenting an alternative slate of electors to Congress.
The probe was ultimately taken over by former special counsel Jack Smith, and formed the basis for a four-count federal indictment of Trump charging him with attempting to subert the 2020 presidential election.
The case was thrown out late last year after Trump defeated then-Vice President Kamala Harris to become the 47th president.
The spring 2022 memo that led to the Arctic Frost probe cited interview clips from CNN as evidence that Trump was involved in a criminal conspiracy to nix the 2020 election results.
“It looks like this was just the same old weaponization, same old political focus, focus on politics, going after your political enemies,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told Just the News of the memo.
“Same mindset that said, ‘We’re going to put the [Steele] dossier in the intelligence community assessment [of the 2016 election], even though we know the dossier is garbage, we know there’s no underlying intelligence support.”
Multiple former prosecutors and FBI agents ripped into the justifications for the Arctic Frost probe and pointed to examples of how schemes to furnish alternative electors in 1876 and 1960 didn’t result in criminal prosecution.
The Arctic Frost probe had sought to obtain information on over 400 GOP-leaning groups and individuals, and targeted at least 160 Republicans, including multiple close Trump allies.
On Wednesday, the president erupted at Smith over those disclosures.

“These thugs should all be investigated and put in prison,” Trump raged on Truth Social. “A disgrace to humanity. Deranged Jack Smith is a criminal!!!”
Earlier this month, Republicans revealed that the probe sought telecommunications data on eight sitting GOP senators. The phone records would have detailed only whom they called, not the content of those calls, according to a document released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).
Soon after, Jordan demanded that Smith appear before the House Judiciary Committee for questioning.
Smith has stood by his probe and subsequent prosecution of Trump and several of his allies, arguing that the president would have been convicted if he didn’t win the 2024 election.
