Von Miller is still a free agent as training camp nears, but wants to latch onto a new team before long.
The former Buffalo Bill, who was cut last March, is reportedly drawing buzz from “three very interested teams,” according to the NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger, who said he talked to Miller’s agent, Joby Branion, a former college teammate of Baldinger’s.
“I think Von feels like there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to sign some point either before camp or — I mean, I don’t think Von’s too crazy about going to training camp,” Baldinger told the DNVR Broncos podcast. “Most guys that age aren’t. They know what they need to do. He looks in great shape. So, I would say he’s going to get signed here [relatively soon].”
Baldinger mentioned the Ravens as a potential landing spot for Miller but stopped short of mentioning them as one of the three teams who are actively trying to sign him.
Miller, 36, was signed by the Bills in 2022 for a massive six-year, $120 million deal in their attempt to get over the hump in a crowded AFC.
The signing was mostly a failure, as Miller had zero sacks in the 2023 season while battling domestic violence accusations.
Miller was suspended for the first four games of the 2024 season after he turned himself in to authorities for third-degree felony assault of a pregnant woman, although he was never charged.
After serving his suspension, Miller was productive in 2024, posting six sacks for the Bills and grading out as the No. 11 EDGE rusher in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
Potential teams that could look to bring Miller in would likely include those looking to compete for a Super Bowl.
The Eagles are a team that constantly enjoys buying low on veteran stars, although they have a crowded defensive line.
Other teams that need pass rush help include the Packers (27th in pass rush win rate in 2024), Ravens (29th) and Chargers (22nd).
Miller earned Super Bowl 50 MVP honors when he carried the Peyton Manning-led Broncos to a victory over the Carolina Panthers.
