Three things to watch for in the Giants’ preseason game against the Dolphins on Saturday afternoon in Miami Gardens, Fla.
1. What’s the running back rotation look like?
The addition of Najee Harris is highly intriguing for the entire position. Putting him in this game might be too much too soon for Harris, signed this past week and coming off a torn Achilles.
If healthy, he will be a factor in the backfield.
Where does that leave Tyrone Tracy Jr., who missed a blitz pickup in the preseason opener that got Jaxson Dart creamed?
Cam Skattebo is the starter and Devin Singletary is a proven veteran. Could Tracy get caught in a squeeze here?
2. Cornerback Deonte Banks had an end-zone interception in the joint practice with the Dolphins.
He has certainly flashed his talent enough this summer to warrant a roster spot.
Has he done enough to supplant Greg Newsome II for a starting role? Probably not.
The nickel back spot (Dru Phillips and Ar’Darius Washington) might come down to the wire.
3. The wide receiver shuffle continues: The competition for roster spots is intense and these games could end up being a determining factor.
Odell Beckham Jr. in his comeback attempt keeps getting open in practice, but it does not often result in receptions. Is that a big deal?
Braxton Berrios seems to be pushing his way into a special teams role.
Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton (because of his contract), Calvin Austin II and Malachi Fields feel like locks.
Is Darnell Mooney safe? If so, where does that leave OBJ?
