‘The View’ braces for major shakeup as co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin steps aside

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 5, 20263 ViewsNo Comments

ABC’s daytime mainstay “The View” is readying to welcome back former co-hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman, who will fill in for Alyssa Farah Griffin during her upcoming maternity leave.

Farah Griffin’s last episode before taking time off for mom duties is set for Feb. 13.

The Disney-owned network has lined up a rotating slate of guest co-hosts to take her seat, including Hasselbeck, Huntsman and Savannah Chrisley.

A spokesperson for the show confirmed the guest co-host line up to The Post on Thursday.

Hasselbeck, born Filarski, first gained nationwide fame as a contestant on the 2001 season of “Survivor: The Australian Outback” and served as a co-host of “The View” from 2003 to 2013.

The wife of former New York Giants quarterback Tim Hasselbeck became known for her conservative political views, which frequently sparked heated on-air clashes with her more liberal co-panelists.

In her memoir, Hasselbeck described the shock of being told she would not be invited back as co-host in 2013.

“I could not breathe — literally, could not breathe,” she wrote in “Point of View: A Fresh Look at Work, Faith, and Freedom,” adding that she “asked permission” to grab her inhaler.

“I was bent over — shock, asthma, and betrayal all stealing my wind.”

Huntsman, the daughter of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., co-hosted the show from 2018 to 2020.

She said at the time that she left to work on her father’s gubernatorial campaign in Utah, though she later revealed that a “toxic” and “unbearable” work environment was a key factor in her departure.

Chrisley, a reality TV personality, is also slated to guest co-host during Farah Griffin’s absence. Her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were pardoned by President Trump following convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion.

ABC is also planning to bring in additional guest co-hosts for spot duty, including political commentator and author Amanda Carpenter, comedian Sheryl Underwood, and comedian and actress Whitney Cummings.

Farah Griffin joined “The View” in 2022 and recently opened up on air about the emotional toll of the job.

“I cry at work, but I hide it, my bosses will never know,” she said, as co-host Sunny Hostin reacted in surprise.

Farah Griffin previously announced her pregnancy on air, revealing she and her husband had been trying to conceive for more than a year.

She shared that she underwent in vitro fertilization after struggling to get pregnant, describing the process as emotionally and physically taxing.

The co-host said the fertility journey took place largely out of public view, even as she continued appearing daily on the show and weighing in on contentious political debates.

Farah Griffin has spoken candidly about the strain of balancing the demands of live television with the uncertainty of fertility treatments, at times becoming emotional during on-air conversations.

The pregnancy marked a major personal milestone for the former White House communications director, who joined “The View” in 2022.

ABC has not said how long Farah Griffin is expected to remain on leave or when she will return to the panel. The Post has sought comment from the network.
