The Yankees are tying Old-Timer’s Day this Saturday to the 25th anniversary of their 2000 team.
Sure. Makes perfect sense. A three-peat champion and winner of the last Subway World Series filled with some of the most beloved players in franchise history.
So the Yankees will commemorate that silver anniversary.
I wonder, though, if they should be thinking of the pearl anniversary, commemorating the 1995 team from 30 years ago. Not only because that was the organization’s first playoff team since 1981, but because — forgive me for this — there might be pearls of wisdom to extend to this year’s club.
