The LeBron vs. Steph saga continues.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Curry’s Golden State Warriors will visit James’ Los Angeles Lakers at their home Crypto.com Arena.
This showdown serves as yet another unofficial rematch of the 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 NBA Finals where Golden State met LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers four years in a row. The Warriors won three of those four cutthroat series.
Last season, both the Lakers and Warriors advanced to the NBA Playoffs. Los Angeles had home-court advantage as the No. 3 seed against the Denver Nuggets but ended up losing in five games.
“I’ll start with the offseason and the work that’s required in an offseason to be in championship shape,” Head Coach JJ Redick said after the team’s season ended. “And we have a ways to go as a roster. And certainly, there are individuals that were in phenomenal shape. There’s certainly other ones that could have been in better shape. That’s where my mind goes immediately is we have to get in championship shape.”
That “championship shape” criticism — likely directed at Luka Dončić — has since been addressed as the star guard has been seen with a much sleeker physique while out and about this summer.
In regards to the team’s roster, General Manager Rob Pelinka bolstered the club’s roster with effective role players to surround James and Dončić. Notable signees include Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia among others.
Over the course of the 2024-25 season, the 50-32 Lakers won three of their four contests against the Warriors.
