Every April, a handful of pitchers show up throwing 99 mph with a 0.00 ERA after several starts and the confidence of someone who just discovered cold brew.
Pitchers such as José Soriano, MacKenzie Gore, Cam Schlittler, Bryce Elder and Randy Vásquez have stormed out of the gates this season. Some may be in the process of a break out while others will turn back into pumpkins by Memorial Day — if not sooner. The trick is figuring out which is which, and deciphering that before they become a liability.
