Fever guard Sophie Cunningham will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a right knee injury in Sunday’s overtime win over the Sun, the team announced Wednesday.
Cunningham, who sustained the season-ending injury in the second quarter of the game, is expected to make a full recovery.
The Fever did not disclose a specific diagnosis.
The Fever signed guard Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract and released guard Kyra Lambert in a corresponding move.
Lambert, who was on a seven-day hardship contract with the Fever, made her WNBA debut on Sunday in the final minutes of Sunday’s win over Connecticut.
The injury to Cunningham is another tough blow for a Fever team that has been missing Caitlin Clark for the last month due to a groin injury.
Cunningham, 29, was writhing in pain while holding her knee after she collided with Sun guard Bria Harley.
The Fever acquired Cunningham and the No. 19 selection in the 2025 WNBA Draft from the Mercury.
Phoenix selected Cunningham out of Missouri with the 13th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 draft.
