Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is splitting from pal President Trump in the Republican primary race for the 3rd House District seat held by Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi.

Giuliani endorsed attorney Greg Hach Tuesday night against former state Assemblyman Mike Lipetri, who came within a few percentage points of defeating Suozzi in the 2024 election for the district covering parts of Nassau County and Queens.

Trump in February endorsed Lipetri, who also has the support of the Nassau County Republican Party.

Hach, 55, is an attorney and Air Force veteran who is pouring $1 million of his own money into the race.

“Right now, I want to urge people to vote for you. You’re one of the best candidates I’ve seen in a very, very long time,” Giuliani said when Hach appeared on his “America’s Mayor Live” podcast.

Giuiliani also said his involvement in the race is “personal.”

He suggested that New York Republican leaders “double crossed” Hach the way they “double crossed” Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani, when he ran for governor in 2022.

Most of the New York GOP leadership endorsed Lee Zeldin for governor in 2022, and he prevailed over the younger Giuliani in the primary.

Andrew Giuliani is executive director of the White House Task Force on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Rudy said his son “would be angry” for mentioning him.

Hach said he was thrilled with Giuliani’s endorsement.

“To earn the support of Rudy Giuliani — the greatest mayor in New York history and a true American hero — is one of the most extraordinary honors of my life,” Hach said.

“Mayor Giuliani carried this nation on his shoulders during one of its darkest hours, and breathed new life into a city that had been declared dead. ….I am running for Congress with the same spirit in which Mr. Giuliani ran for mayor: I see a corrupt, broken, and unaffordable system, and I refuse to accept it. We can do so much better than we are today. That begins locally with getting rid of Tom Suozzi.”

Giuliani’s endorsement gives the Hach campaign a boost as it heads into the final days of the primary contest. Early voting runs until Sunday June 21st. Polls open on Primary Day, Tuesday, June 23.

Nearly all of Trump’s endorsed candidates across the country have prevailed in this year’s primary election season, indicating that Hach has a steep hill to climb given the president’s sway with Republican voters.

The Nassau County GOP leadership backing Lipetri brushed off the Giuliani endorsement of Hach.

“The Nassau Republican Committee stands with President Donald Trump in endorsing Mike LiPetri for Congress in NY-3. Mike backs the President and his policies, which have secured our borders and given our families no tax on tips, social security and overtime,” said Nassa County Republican Party chairman Joseph Cairo.

“Nassau Republicans are following President Trump’s lead as they vote for Mike LiPetri.”

Giuliani, 82, is on the mend after battling a “serious” case of pneumonia that caused him to slip into a coma last month.
