Rep. Lauren Boebert gave a simple response to a viral claim that she had affairs with three staff members — including two women: she’s straight.
Boebert (R-Col.), who famously pondered in April, “why is everybody so horny” in Congress after a slew of sex scandals, faces a sworn ethics complaint from a political action committee that has targeted her for years.
“Well, I’m not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship, nor have I ever been sexually involved with any staff,” Boebert told Sources Say News after the bombshell accusations emerged.
Her office called the claims “utterly false.”
Members of Congress are prohibited from having sex with their staffers under House rules enacted in the wake of #MeToo. Over the past year, there has been a push to extend that ban to other staffers as well.
American Muckrakers’ leader David Wheeler, who has gone after Boebert for years, filed the complaint on Thursday.
It alleges that Boebert had flings with her former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, her former chief of staff Jeffrey Small, and current chief of staff Raven Finegan.
Both Navarro Ratzlaff and Small left Boebert’s office in 2025. Finegan is still there.
Wheeler alleges that Boebert’s fling with Navarro Ratzlaff began in 2021 and lasted through her tenure. But Navarro Ratzlaff has strenuously denied that, telling the Colorado Times Recorder that the accusations are “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no truth to any part of this claim.”
Wheeler alleged their liaison took place in campaign-funded hotel rooms and that Navarro Ratzlaff got a $200,000 payout in March of last year to keep quiet after she dangled the threat of filing an ethics complaint.
The complaint is based on House disclosures and anonymous sources, according to Wheeler.
The boisterous congresswoman and mother of four had gone viral in 2023 for getting caught on camera groping her now-ex-beau Quinn Gallagher, a registered Democrat, at a “Beetlejuice” performance in Denver.
The pair were kicked out of the venue for causing a disturbance by vaping and snapping photos in violation of the theater’s rules. Boebert later apologized for the debacle and survived reelection in 2024.
