‘Paradise’ Star Confirms Their Character Was Actually Killed Off in Surprise Offscreen Death

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 26, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

A Paradise main cast member just confirmed that their character was actually killed off screen.

During the Monday, March 23, episode of the hit Hulu series, Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi) attacked Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom) in the shower. The assassin was bleeding out but her fate was left unclear — until now.

“I was defensive of my character when I read that because we’ve established that Jane is highly-skilled, highly-trained, the biggest mother ever in the bunker,” Bloom told People while confirming Jane was dead. “And so I kind of was like, ‘Wait, what? How does Dr. Torabi, who has no prior experience with this at all, take Jane by surprise?’”

Bloom was able to come around on how Jane was killed off.

“For viewers, I think it’ll be really fun,” she continued. “How incredible for Gabriela to sort of get the jump on someone who is so skilled. But yeah, I had to kind of work to have that make sense… anyone who’s taken off guard is in a vulnerable position. So I was like, okay, it does make sense.”

The actress even made up a theory to explain Jane not gaining the upper hand, adding, “The steam from the shower, made me think of the sauna scene where little Jane is thrown into the sauna. And so kind of just in my own head, I was like, ‘OK, maybe this is a triggering moment for her and she’s a little off-balance, a little confused.’”

She concluded: “She hits her head and then sort of is bleeding out. And Jane, I think, probably understands the human body enough to know that a kidney shot in the lower back is pretty quickly fatal and so perhaps rather than fighting back, which was kind of my desire or instinct, she just knows how quickly this can take her down.”

Paradise, which premiered in January 2025, initially appeared to be set in a serene and wealthy community forced to face the realities of a shocking murder. But creator Dan Fogelman‘s political thriller featured a twist when Paradise was revealed to be an underground bunker housing the world’s most prominent individuals after an apocalyptic event destroyed the rest of humanity.

In addition to Sterling K. Brown, Julianne Nicholson, Shahi and Bloom, the show stars Aliyah Mastin, Percy Daggs IV, Krys Marshall, Gerald McRaney and Enuka Okuma.

Brown, 49, who is also an executive producer on the show, recently reflected on holding onto so many secrets about the show.

“I like knowing [what will happen on my projects]. But I feel like it’s a question you only ask in TV. Because if you’re doing a film or play, you know the beginning, the middle and the end,” he told Us Weekly last month. “The idea that you don’t have to know or have it spoiled for you … it is also like I get a chance to help craft the arc of where it ultimately goes to. So I don’t mind knowing.”

New episodes of Paradise air Mondays on Hulu.
