Azzi Fudd has cleared the air.
The 2026 All-Rookie and Paige Bueckers are no longer dating and have not been together for over a year, she revealed on her podcast “Fudd Around and Find Out” on Friday afternoon alongside her former partner and Dallas Wings teammate.
“Paige and I have something we want to share with everyone. We are no longer together,” Fudd chuckled. “I don’t know how else to say that.”
“I mean, yeah we’re not together anymore” Bueckers added. “It’s been, for everybody wondering even though we don’t have to share, it’s been a while. It’s been over a year.”
The two intially met at a USA Basketball camp in 2017 before Fudd joined the UConn Huskies during Bueckers’ sophomore season.
They went on to grow closer and win a national championship together in 2025. They kept their relationship private, yet after various teaser social media posts, two-time All-Star Bueckers confirmed their status during the 2025 All-Star weekend when a content creator referred to Fudd as her “D1 girlfriend.”
A lot of buzz soon sparked when Fudd was selected as the No. 1 overall pick to the Wings this season.
On Friday, Bueckers emphasized that Fudd going first overall to Dallas did not happen because she was romantically tied to the star guard.
“We were not together before she got drafted,” Bueckers said. “So, all those narratives can go to bed. She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it and she’s an amazing human, an amazing basketball player.
“We’re still friends. We’re still cool. We broke up over a year ago so we played an entire season together. We’re the utmost professional. We care about basketball and we’re still friends.”
The teammates went on to ask fans to cease from sending them and their families “hate” and negative messages about their relationship and each other.
“I hate that we have to address this but just to control the narrative, there’s been some crazy things said about us,” Bueckers said. “I feel like I set the precedent in this but to readdress it, sometimes in life there’s just seasons and sometimes in life people are just at different points in their life.
“We still support each other. We are still going to be great friends. We are going to be great teammates. We are going to be professionals. We are still going to have other friends. We will eventually move on. I know we will continue to be outside and be lit and have good times. So, we should not get punished for that as well… At the end of the day, we still care about each other and want the best for each other.”
Fudd also addressed wild messages she receives, and said, “We don’t need messages on what the other person is doing.”
With Fudd added to the Wings’ backcourt, the team greatly improved this season with a 27-17 record and made their first playoff appearance in three seasons.
It was a 17-win improvement from 2025.
Dallas faced the WNBA champion Valkyries in the first-round of the playoffs, losing the best-of-three series 2-1.
It was Bueckers’ WNBA playoff debut and she averaged 16 points on 40 percent shooting from the field.
Fudd missed the postseason after suffering a season-ending right knee injury that required surgery. She averaged 13.1 points across 30 games in her rookie season.
