Aside from her successful acting career, Nicole Kidman’s relationships have also made headlines throughout the years.
The Babygirl actress met Tom Burlinson on set of their 1986 film Windrider. The twosome went on to date for three years.
Kidman went on to have a brief fling with Marcus Graham before she started dating Tom Cruise after quickly hitting it off on the set of the 1990 film Days of Thunder. The couple tied the knot later that year and adopted two kids together: Isabella and Connor in 1992 and 1995, respectively.
After 11 years of marriage, Cruise and Kidman called it quits in 2001.
“I was young. I think I offered it up? Maybe I’ve gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I’m always trying to be as open as possible,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2021. “I just prefer to live in the world that way. I’m wary at times, and I’ve been hurt, but at the same time, I much prefer a warm approach rather than a prickly shutdown approach.”
Following their split, Kidman was linked to Lenny Kravitz before starting a relationship with Keith Urban in 2005. The pair got married in 2006 and welcomed daughters Sunday and Faith in 2008 and 2010, respectively.
In September 2025, a source confirmed to Us Weekly that Kidman and Urban had split after nearly two decades of marriage.

Tom Burlinson
The pair met on set of the 1986 rom-com Windrider. Kidman and Burlinson dated for three years before calling it quits.
“Nicole Kidman and I made a movie, Windrider, in 1986 and dated for three years. I was 11 years older and it was her first relationship with a man as an adult,” Burlinson told the Sydney Morning Herald in February 2020. “We had happy times, but she had her own path to take in life. One thing that has been written about us, which is incorrect, is that I asked her to marry me and she said no.”
Marcus Graham
Following her split from Burlinson, Kidman dated Graham in the ‘80s before she ultimately left him to date Cruise.
“I don’t have anything bad to say about Nicole,” Graham said in a July 2023 interview with Woman’s Day. “We were both in our early 20s and young and ambitious. A brilliant, gorgeous, talented actress meets big Hollywood movie star and he says, ‘Come with me.’ I think you say, ‘Go, are you mad?’ It must have been wonderful for her.”
Graham noted that he was “devastated and heartbroken” at the time, but he doesn’t hold any hard feelings toward Kidman.
“That’s the way it goes, isn’t it? Why would I want to keep her in Australia and lock her away?!” he told the outlet. “I don’t have any bad feelings there and I understand. At the time I cried for a long time. I was really hurt and confused, but I had lots to learn about the world.”

The Top Gun actor and Kidman instantly had a connection after meeting on the set of Days of Thunder in 1990. They had a whirlwind romance and tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 1990 before going on to adopt daughter Isabella in 1992 and son Connor in 1995. The twosome split in 2001 after 11 years of marriage.
“I was willing to give up everything,” Kidman told Vanity Fair in November 2002 following Cruise filing for divorce. “I now see that as part of me. I’m willing to do that — I do it when I do a movie too. I’m willing to go, ‘Yeah, bring it on, consume me, intoxicate me.’ I want to feel alive — I want to reel, basically. I was reeling with Tom and I loved it and I would have walked to the end of the earth. That meant giving up a lot of things that were very important to me.”

Following her split from Cruise, Kidman started dating the musician in 2003. The pair secretly got engaged that year before going their separate ways in 2004.
“I knew Zoë [Kravitz] because I was engaged to her father,” Kidman said on the Big Little Lies press tour in 2017 when asked about her relationship with Zoë. “It’s all in the family! I love Lenny; he’s a great guy.”
Nearly one year later, Lenny noted that it was “interesting” that Zoë and Kidman both ended up on Big Little Lies after knowing each other such a long time ago while Lenny and Kidman were dating.
“It was beautiful that they got to know each other as adults and make this great show together. Some things just don’t work … the wonderful thing is we’re all friends,” he said on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2018.
Keith Urban
Kidman and the country singer met at the G’Day USA Gala in 2005. Despite Urban waiting a few months before calling Kidman, the twosome eventually tied the knot in 2006. They went on to welcome daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
“I met him later in life and it’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Kidman said during a CBS Mornings interview in January 2022. “That man is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We’re a mix. We’re very suited [for each other]. I’m incredibly lucky to have met him.”
After nearly two decades of marriage, a source confirmed to Us in September 2025 that Urban and Kidman had split.
