Scoring surged, a massive favorite sent thousands of Survivor entries packing and a handful of early results reshaped the futures market.
Here are four betting trends that stood out from the opening week.
Offenses come out firing
NFL offenses wasted little time getting going in Week 1, and Over bettors cleaned up.
The league combined for 791 points across 16 games, tying 2012 for the most in an opening week since the AFL-NFL merger.
Eleven teams scored at least 30 points, helping Overs finish 9-6-1 for the week.
Teams combined to average 49.4 points per game, potentially giving oddsmakers an early-season challenge as they determine whether the scoring barrage was a Week 1 anomaly or the beginning of a larger trend moving forward.
Chargers crush Survivor pools
Thousands of Survivor entries didn’t even make it through the first Sunday of the season.
The Chargers entered Week 1 as the NFL’s biggest favorite, laying 9.5 points against the Cardinals, but were stunned 26-14 at home in a game in which they never led.
The upset wiped out 7,585 entries in the Circa Survivor contest alone, representing 30.3 percent of its record 25,017-entry field.
Week 1 shakes up the Super Bowl market
It only took one week for oddsmakers to make some major adjustments to the Super Bowl futures board.
The 49ers entered Week 1 at 17/1 at BetMGM Sportsbook and now sit at 14/1 after their convincing win over the Rams, while Los Angeles has drifted from +500 to +650 but remains the Super Bowl favorite.
The Giants also saw their price shorten after upsetting the Cowboys on Sunday night, moving from 66/1 entering the season to 50/1.

Caleb Williams surges in MVP market
Caleb Williams was one of the biggest movers in the MVP market after Week 1.
The Bears quarterback accounted for four touchdowns, with two passing and two rushing, as Chicago erupted for 59 points against the Panthers.
Williams completed 21-of-29 passes for 269 yards while adding 65 yards on the ground.
DraftKings Sportsbook moved his MVP odds from 12/1 before the season to +700, vaulting Williams to third on its board behind Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
